In front of the Croatian Association of Innovators in the common time from December 1st – 4th at CROAGRO – International fair of agriculture, agricultural equipment and mechanization and the Food and Healthy Living Fairs; research team led by Prof. Gabrijel Ondrašek PhD presented his award-winning innovations that resulted from the project Ash4Soil.

At the solemn session of the Senate on the occasion of the Day of the University of Zagreb on November 9, 2022, the rector Prof. Stjepan Lakušić PhD awarded Prof. Gabrijel Ondrašek PhD and Filip Kranjčec MSc, with the University Innovation of the Year for 2022. They were awarded for innovation: value-added products for chemical land reclamation based on bioash and waste. The awarded products represent an example of innovative sustainable circular economy and sustainable management of waste and recycled materials. The presented products were developed for chemical reclamation of acidic and nutrient depleted soils in ecological and/or conventional agriculture and forestry. The award-winning innovation is the result of activities on the project Ash4Soil.

At the international exhibition of innovations ARCA 2022, held from October 13 to 15, 2022 in the National and University Library in Zagreb, where >200 domestic and foreign innovations from various fields were presented, the innovative product ASH4SOIL – a soil improver for chemical melioration based on wastes. Among the awardees was the research team; Prof. Gabrijel Ondrašek PhD, Filip Kranjčec MSc, and Jelena Horvatinec MSc, from the University of Zagreb Agriculture Faculty, which received a silver medal for the innovative product ASH4SOIL. The product is the result of activities on the Ash4Soil project.

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Nutrition – Skopje organized from 12 – 14 October 2022, the 4th International Symposium on Agriculture and Food (ISAF-2022) where Prof. Gabrijel Ondrašek, PhD presented the abstract Amelioration of metal-contaminated soil by bioash impacts metals release from the soil matrix & chemical speciation in water leachates, which is the result of activities on the project Ash4soil.
The 9th International Conference WATER FOR ALL was held on the 19 – 20 May 2022 in Osijek, in the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek on the occasion of World Water Day and with the aim of gathering and exchanging experiences of scientists and experts in the field of water management, environmental protection, and preservation of water resources.
Scientific work: Amendment of metal – contaminated soil by biochar impacts metals release from the soil matrix & chemical speciation modelling in percolates was preseted there as a result of the activities on the project Ash4soil.
Employees of the Department of Soil Amelioration University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture: Prof. Gabrijel Ondrašek, PhD; Prof. Davor Romić, PhD and Jelena Horvatinec, MSc with collaborator from international institutions published a publication in the journal “Science of the Total Evvironment” (Q1, IF 10.75).
